Sporting Gijon have been ordered to pay Barcelona €1.2 million over the sale of defender Alberto Botia to Sevilla in 2012 by a Spanish court. Botia joined second-division side Sporting on loan from Barca in 2009, with the deal made permanent the following the summer. As part of the deal, Barcelona maintained the right to re-sign the centre-back and were also due 30 percent of any future transfer.
